Common questions

Straight answers, including the ones that cost us work.

If we are not the right fit for your business, the fastest way for both of us to find that out is on this page rather than three meetings from now.

How do I know if my business has a scaling problem or just a sales problem?

The clearest test is what happens when sales go up. If more revenue makes the business worse — longer delivery times, more mistakes, more hours from you — you have a scaling problem, and more leads will make it worse. If more revenue flows through cleanly and you simply want more of it, you have a sales problem. Most owners who come to us assumed they had a sales problem.

What does a business scaling consultant actually do?

Three things. First, find the real constraint, which is usually not the one the owner is focused on. Second, redesign the parts of the business that constraint runs through — the structure, the process, the technology, or all three. Third, make the change stick by documenting it and measuring it, so the business keeps performing after the engagement ends. What it is not is a slide deck of recommendations you are left to implement alone.

How long does an engagement take?

It depends where you start. A focused diagnostic that identifies the constraint and gives you a prioritised plan is measured in weeks. Redesigning an operating model, building the SOPs and installing the measurement behind it is measured in months. We would rather scope it honestly after the first conversation than quote a number that fits everyone and nobody.

What does it cost?

We do not publish pricing, because the work is not the same in any two businesses. What we will do is tell you the scope and the price in writing before anything starts, and tell you if we think the work is not worth it for you. The first conversation costs nothing.

What size business is Genysis IQ built for?

Established businesses that have outgrown the systems that got them here — typically $500K to $5M in revenue with a small operating team. Below that, the constraint is usually still sales, and you need customers more than you need architecture. Well above that, you generally have internal operations leadership already.

I am involved in every decision. Where do I even start?

Start by writing down every decision that came to you last week and marking the ones that genuinely required you. For most owners it is under a quarter. The rest are coming to you because nobody has been given the authority, the information, or the documented standard to decide without you. Those three gaps are what the Architecture and Processes stages of CASPER exist to close.

Do we have to use AI?

No. We are a business consultancy that happens to be good at technology, not an AI company looking for places to put AI. Plenty of the highest-return work we do involves no AI at all — it is structure, process and accountability. Where AI genuinely removes work, we will say so and implement it. Where it is a distraction from the actual constraint, we will say that too.

What kind of AI work do you actually do?

Assessing where AI would remove real cost or delay in an operation; building the assistants that answer inbound questions and handle after-hours enquiries; automating workflows that currently consume staff hours; evaluating vendors so you do not buy the wrong platform; and penetration testing and security assessment of the systems you already run.

Do you offer penetration testing and cybersecurity?

Yes. Security assessment and penetration testing sit inside our practical AI and technology practice. Authorised testing is a service we sell and it always requires written permission before it begins.

Do you only work with businesses in Orlando?

No. We are based in Orlando, Florida, and we work with companies across the United States. Most engagements run remotely, with on-site work where it genuinely earns the travel.

What is CASPER?

It is the six-stage framework we use: Clarity, Architecture, Systems, Processes, Evaluation and Replication. The point of a sequence rather than a checklist is that order matters — writing SOPs before designing the roles documents the wrong job. There is a full explanation on our CASPER page.

How is this different from hiring a fractional COO?

A fractional COO runs your operations. We build the operating system so the business needs less running. Those can be complementary — some clients bring us in to design the architecture and then hire an operator to execute inside it. If what you actually need is a full-time operator, we will tell you that.
